We are less than 140 days away from Penn State’s home opener against West Virginia on September 2nd and just a few days removed from the Nittany Lions’ Blue/White game last Saturday. Heading into his second year with Penn State football, running back Kaytron Allen is heavier, more experienced, and is excited to kickoff a new season behind his revamped offensive line this fall.
Running back Kaytron Allen looking forward to year two in the Blue and White
A season ago, as a true freshman, Kaytron Allen shinned along with fellow true freshman Nick Singleton, helping carry the Penn State football offense to a 10-win regular season and a Rose Bowl victory over No. 8 Utah on January 2nd. During the 2022 season, Allen — a former four-star running back in the 2022 recruiting class — saw 167 carries for 867 rushing yards and one touchdown. He also caught 20 passes for 188 yards and another touchdown.
Following winter workouts and spring practices, Kaytron Allen is bigger, stronger, and more experienced than he was at this point last year; he is gearing up for another memorable season and is looking to make a splash this fall.
“Kaytron, like I said, he’s a good player. Throughout last year — summer — you could tell his body changed,” fellow running back Nick Singleton stated during spring practice. “Even this year, going through winter workouts and spring. His body looks good, man. He’s been working his butt off.”
Penn State football running backs looking to thrive behind revamped offensive line
Last season, it was clear that Penn State football was seeing some major improvements from its offensive line; however, the Nittany Lions still had some work to do heading into the 2023 season this fall. Behind Penn State’s new-look offensive line, Kaytron Allen is looking to thrive in year two with the Nittany Lions.
“It feels great,” Kaytron Allen said following Penn State’s spring game. “Just trying to keep getting better, keep trying to improve [heading into the fall opener].”
With some new faces and a ton of depth along the 2023 Penn State football offensive line, Kaytron Allen should have a lot of holes to run through this season. After the Blue/White game, I asked Kaytron if there was anyone that has stood out in particular along the O-Line, and his answer was simple: everyone.
“The whole O-line,” Kaytron Allen stated when asked about who was standing out along this year’s offensive line. “Our O-line creates great holes, [we are] a great offensive team, have a great offensive line, I think we have one of the best offensive lines in the nation.”
Ahead of his second season with Penn State football, Kaytron Allen is feeling good and is confident in his offensive line.
