Penn State football is full steam ahead in its preparations for the 2025 season. But as training camp winds to a close, the Nittany Lions also started the week by adding to their already highly-touted 2027 recruiting class.
On Monday, the Blue and White earned a commitment from Imani Christian athlete Gabe Jenkins. Jenkins is rated as the No. 60 prospect in the country, per 247Sports. A four-star, he is evaluated as a cornerback by 247, whereas Rivals/On3 views the Pittsburgh product as a linebacker.
Jenkins is the No. 3 recruit in the state for 2027, behind Nittany Lion commit Kemon Spell and offensive line target Maxwell Hiller. He is the state’s highest-rated defensive prospect in the class.
Jenkins is now the first pledge on the defensive side of the ball for the Nittany Lions in 2027. The commitment is Penn State’s fourth early on in the cycle and the third from western Pennsylvania.
Penn State football has the No. 1 class nationally, according to 247.
