On Saturday afternoon, 2024 South Carolina RB Traevon Dunbar announced his final six remaining schools. Among these schools are the Penn State Nittany Lions, Maryland Terrapins, and West Virginia Mountaineers. This recruitment appears to be anyone’s ball game, and the Lions have some stout competition.

Traevon Dunbar is a 2024 South Carolina running back, and is rated by On3 as a three-star prospect. He is also ranked as the No. 545 player in the nation, the No. 51 running back prospect, and the No. 8 player South Carolina for the 2024 class.

Dunbar has an extensive offer list to this point; however, the previous top three schools appeared to be Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, and Penn State per the Recruiting Prediction Machine.

On Friday, when Dunbar dropped his final six schools, Penn State and a few other familiar faces made the cut, including one other Big Ten East team and former rival WVU. Dunbar’s top-6 are Penn State, Virginia Tech, Boston College, West Virginia, Maryland, and Arkansas. James Franklin may be looking to get Dunbar back to State College over the spring and summer seeing as his first (and only) visit came in mid-November of last year.

Penn State’s 2024 class currently ranks No. 19 in the nation with four committed players this far — the Nittany Lions have not landed a running back thus far in the cycle.
