Penn State picked to land elite running back, No. 1 player in PA

As the Nittany Lions look to wrap up spring ball and shift focus to the Blue-White game and 2023 season, the coaching staff is still hard at work on the recruiting trail. Yesterday, the Penn State football team received some great recruiting news: Quinton Martin, the No. 1 2024 recruit in Pennsylvania, is expected to commit to James Franklin’s Nittany Lions. As the 2024 recruiting class gains more momentum, this could become a top pickup for Penn State this spring or summer.

Quinton Martin is ranked as the No. 1 2024 recruit in Pennsylvania

Quinton Martin is one of the most sought-after players in the 2024 recruiting class; in fact, there is no payer ranked higher in the state than Martin. As the Nittany Lions’ recruiting slogan goes, “The best in PA, stay in PA.” If Penn State football wants to maintain any truth to that statement, landing the No. 1 2024 recruit in Pennsylvania needs to be top priority during this recruiting cycle.

Right now, Quinton Martin is thought of as one of the top recruits in the country, and has one of the most impressive recruiting stat lines that we have ever seen. Martin is rated as a four-star recruit by every major recruiting outlet — which is impressive in its own right — but is also the unanimous No. 1 2024 recruit in Pennsylvania. Getting all four major outlets to agree on an in-state ranking is nearly impossible, yet here we are.

Quinton Martin is ranked as the No. 30 player in the country, the No. 3 athlete in the 2024 recruiting class, and the No. 1 2024 recruit in Pennsylvania by the 247 Sports composite rankings. He is a product of Belle Vernon High School on the western side of the state.

Penn State football predicted to earn Martin’s commitment

On Tuesday, the Rivals FutureCast saw two new predictions for Penn State football to land the No. 1 2024 recruit in Pennsylvania. If that was not enough, the Nittany Lions are also favored to land his commitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, which lists Penn State, Pitt, Ohio State, and West Virginia as the top-4 schools competing for his commitment at this time. According to Martin, it is clear that he is one of (if not the) top targets for Penn State football in the 2024 recruiting class.

“Coach Franklin has been making it well-known that I’m one of his top priorities,” Martin told BWI. “But there’s also no pressure on me to make any kind of decision. He just wants me to do what I think is best for me.”
