The Nittany Lions have a few transfer needs ahead of summer camp in a couple of short months; one of the biggest needs is a defensive tackle. Today, it was reported that Penn State football is targeting Georgia football transfer Bear Alexander and has officially contacted the massive interior defensive lineman. Here is what you need to know about Penn State’s huge transfer portal target.

Penn State football targeting former 5-star recruit Bear Alexander

Earlier today, On3 reported that Penn State football is among those to contact Bear Alexander, a huge defensive tackle that recently finished his first college football season with the Georgia Bulldogs. Now, with a huge need for defensive tackle depth, it appears that the Nittany Lions have a handful of options — Alexander is one of the more enticing defensive tackle transfers on the market right now.

Out of high school, Bear Alexander was rated as a five-star recruit by the Rivals Network, and was ranked as the No. 9 recruit in the nation, the No. 2 defensive tackle in the class of 2022, and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Florida. Needless to say, Alexander was a sought-after recruit out of high school and still is as a transfer target.

As a freshman at Georgia in 2022, Bear Alexander recorded nine tackles, two sacks, and two passes defended. He also recorded two tackles and a sack in Georgia’s massive victory over the TCU Horned Frogs in the 2023 National Championship Game.

Alexander boasts an impressive 6-foot-3, 305-pound frame, making him an ideal candidate as a run stopper — something that Penn State football needs more of via the transfer portal ahead of playing a grueling Big Ten schedule this fall. Nothing is set in stone with his recruitment to Penn State, but as of Thursday evening, we know that the Nittany Lions’ coaching staff has contacted the massive Georgia football transfer defensive tackle.
