JUST IN: Earlier this offseason, the Nittany Lions landed one of the top-ranked transfer portal players in the nation: Storm Duck. Duck was a former All-ACC honorable mention with the North Carolina Tar Heels and was set to play a major role on this year’s Penn State football defense. Now, less than a week after the Penn State spring game, Storm Duck will re-enter the portal, according to multiple reports (first reported by On3).

Penn State football: Storm Duck to re-enter transfer portal

On Friday morning, it was reported that Penn State football transfer addition Storm Duck — who has only been with the team for a few months — will re-enter the transfer portal. For Penn State football, this appears to be a notable loss during the second transfer portal window, which began last Saturday. Duck was a four-star college transfer and a key addition to the roster last winter during the first transfer portal window.

Penn State football may look in the portal for a replacement, and the reason for his departure is still unknown. That being said, the Nittany Lions have a crowded secondary, and fellow CB Johnny Dixon appeared to be in the lead for the CB2 job, which could have played a large role in Duck’s decision.

While Kalen King remains the CB1 for Penn State football right now, the rest of the secondary is looking loaded as well, and the room was getting crowded. Storm Duck was thought of as one of the top defenders in the Nittany Lions’ secondary heading into summer ball, though the secondary’s depth will likely be tested now that he is on his way out.
