After having its Big Ten title and College Football Playoff hopes dashed last week, Penn State football returns to Beaver Stadium Saturday against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. James Franklin and the Nittany Lions still have plenty to play for, with a 10-win regular season and potential New Year’s Six Bowl bid on the line. But as the Nittany Lions prepare to face off against the surprisingly tough Scarlet Knights defense, it may be doing so again without one of its top playmakers in Harrison Wallace. The Week 12 injury report just released by Penn State tells us what to expect.

Penn State football releases injury report ahead of Michigan game

New in 2023, the Big Ten mandates each team submit an injury report for release two hours before kickoff each week. Below are the Penn State football players listed for this week’s matchup with Rutgers:

Harrison Wallace III – OUT

James Franklin speaks on potential return of Harrison Wallace

The loss of Harrison Wallace has been a significant blow to a wide receiver room that has drastically underperformed in 2023.

Wallace seemed poised for a breakout season after having 10 receptions through the first two games of the year. But the sophomore missed the better portion of the next month before returning against UMass on October 14. After recording 5 catches for 63 yards against the Minutemen and Ohio State, Wallace left the Indiana game with an injury, reappearing on the sideline in a sling.

While James Franklin previously expressed that Wallace may be back this season, the Penn State football coach made it clear that his return won’t come Saturday against Rutgers.

“We won’t see him this week. But I’m not sure after that,” Franklin said following practice this week.

Kickoff between Penn State football and Rutgers is set for noon on FS1.
