To say this week has been tough for the Penn State football team would be putting it lightly. Not only did the Nittany Lions fall short against Michigan on Saturday, but less than 24 hours after the game ended the team experienced another piece of adversity. James Franklin decided to part ways with offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. This impacts the team tremendously, especially quarterback Drew Allar. But he has responded well this week in practice, according to James Franklin.

James Franklin explains how Drew Allar responded this week

So many people have written off Penn State football QB Drew Allar after the performances he had against Ohio State and Michigan this season. Let’s be honest, Allar has not played well in either of those games. From the outside looking in, it appeared that the moment was too big for the sophomore quarterback.

But it seems that there was more going on behind the scenes with Mike Yurcich. Overall, anyone would be upset and take things personally this week. But Allar has responded well, according to James Franklin.

When Franklin was asked about this Wednesday night, he said, “He’s [Drew Allar] been great. He’s been really good; I thought we had a really good practice tonight. I thought the quarterbacks looked good.”

It’s great to hear that Allar has been able to put the tough loss behind him. It’s easy to forget that Mike Yurcich was the driving force for Drew Allar to commit to Penn State. Obviously, it’s a lot to process for the young quarterback, but the fact that he’s handled it well is a great sign of things to come.
