The transfer portal is in full swing. While Penn State football hasn’t seen many players hit the exit doors since the portal opened Monday morning, James Franklin and the Nittany Lions staff have been active with offers over the last several days. And now, Franklin and his staff will have the opportunity to make their pitches in person. According to reports, multiple marquee transfer portal players, including All-American return man Jaylin Lucas,  fast-rising OT prospect Alan Herron, and former four-star WR Andre Greene Jr., are in State College this weekend.

Over the last week, James Franklin has made it clear that Penn State football is targeting talent in the trenches and on the edge in the transfer portal. The majority of the Nittany Lions’ portal offers to date have been to linemen, WRs, or athletes who can make plays in space.

And reports indicate that the Nittany Lions will have several of these top portal prospects on campus this weekend. Last night, it was reported that Indiana’s Jaylin Lucas is visiting Penn State. A versatile athlete, Lucas was named a first-team All-American kick returned by multiple outlets after his freshman season in 2022.

The Nittany Lions shut down Lucas when the Hooisers visited Happy Valley this season, holding him to one reception for -5 yards and one punt return for -9 yards. Penn State offered Lucas in the transfer portal on December 6.

Another player confirmed to be on campus this weekend is Shorter University OL Alan Herron. A fast-rising prospect from the Division II ranks, Herron is the No. 6 OT currently in the transfer portal, according to rankings by 247Sports.

Franklin and the Nittany Lions offered Herron on November 29. The top-ranked OL also has visits with Texas Tech and Clemson on the horizon.

Finally, former four-star WR Andre Greene Jr. is also confirmed as being in Happy Valley this weekend. Greene is a former top 85 overall player in the class of 2022, and chose North Carolina over Penn State, Georgia, Oregon, and Clemson. The former Tar Hell also has a visit scheduled with Virginia.

What other other names to watch in the portal?

Jaylin Lucas and Alan Herron aren’t the only names to keep an eye on, however. Penn State football also has a visit scheduled for top-ranked DL Aeneas Peebles of Duke.

Of course, the transfer portal prospect that everyone has their eyes on is former Ohio State WR Julian Fleming. There’s been a lot of rumblings that the former No. 1 player in Pennsylvania could be coming home for his final college season. For now, we’re waiting to see if there are flames to go along with that smoke.
