As the 2023 Penn State football season comes to a close, attention will soon start to shift to 2024, starting with the incoming crop of recruits at National Signing Day. There are several future Nittany Lions that have rightfully generated buzz with their play this fall. But at the top of the class sits fast-rising Penn State commit Luke Reynolds. In a matter of months, Reynolds has skyrocketed from a complete unknown to one of the top prospects in the entire nation. Reynolds’s meteoric rise continued this week, as the acclaimed “complete mismatch” Penn State commit jumped into the top 40 of the updated On300 2024 recruiting rankings.

Penn State commit Luke Reynolds takes a massive jump in new 2024 recruiting rankings

By now, you’ve probably heard the buzz around Penn State TE commit Luke Reynolds, and for good reason. Reynolds has the making of an absolute freak, and is currently the Nittany Lions’ only five-star prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to 247Sports.

But Reynolds’s incredible rise still bears repeating. He was a virtually unrecognized prospect when he committed to Penn State football last spring, falling outside the top 1,000 rated recruits by 247Sports. But then the Penn State commit burst onto the scene, climbing over 950 spots in the 2024 recruiting rankings in May.

Luke Reynolds then quickly jumped into the top 50 prospects nationally over the summer, and earned his fifth star from 247Sports last month. Now, On3 is getting aboard the Luke Reynolds-hype train, as the Penn State commit has become one of the recruiting outlet’s fastest risers in its updated 2024 recruiting rankings. Reynolds took a massive jump, up from No. 83 to No. 38 in the new On300 rankings.

“Luke Reynolds has put together quite the senior season,” On3 national scout Cody Bellaire wrote. “He is a complete player at the position from a skillset perspective and has shown some flashes of truly elite YAC ability. He is what the modern hybrid offensive player looks like at the next level. His ability to play as an H-back, in-line Y, slot receiver, and true wideout makes him a complete mismatch no matter where he lines up between the white lines.”

Another solid class on the way for Penn State football

With the massive jump, Luke Reynolds is now the highest-rated recruit in the 2024 cycle for Penn State football, according to On3 and 247Sports.

Reynolds will join what could potentially be a high-flying offense for the Nittany Lions with these 2024 prospects.  He is, of course, joined by Penn State commit Ethan Grunkemeyer, the Ohio QB who has shot up the 2024 recruiting rankings in his own right.

The Nittany Lions also landed Quinton Martin, the versatile athlete who has shown multiple times this fall why he is the No. 1 prospect in Pennsylvania. Leading the way up front are several top-ranked linemen in Cooper Cousins and Garrett Sexton.

Both On3 and 247Sports have Penn State football with the No. 13 recruiting class nationally for 2024, which is good enough for third in the new-look Big Ten behind Ohio State and Oregon.
