The Penn State football team has lived by the slogan “The best in PA stay in PA.” Meaning if you are from Pennsylvania naturally your college choice is coming to Penn State. Unfortunately, that is not always the case and in the 2025 recruiting class, the Nittany Lions have missed out on a top defender. This is Sharlandiin Strange who made his commitment to Syracuse on Saturday.

Sharlandiin Strange is a four-star prospect according to 247sports. He is from Wyncote, PA, and attends Cheltenham High School. He is currently listed as the No. 9 player in Pennsylvania and he is a top 25 edge rusher in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He committed to Syracuse on Saturday over USC, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Penn State, and several other Power 5 schools.

The last unofficial visit he took was to see the Penn State football team in November of 2023 before making his decision a few months later. Syracuse is starting to pick up serious steam with their recruiting efforts.

Penn State football pushing for in-state LB

It’s not all bad news for the Nittany Lions. In the 2025 recruiting class, the Penn State football team is the current favorite to land 2025 linebacker Alex Tatsch.

Alex Tatsch is a 2025 four-star linebacker, according to On3. He is currently unranked on 247sports, but that should change very soon. From Latrobe, PA, Tatsch plays his high school football at Greater Latrobe.
