In the latest edition of the AP Top 25 ranking there is plenty to review. Most importantly has Penn State made any significant movement in the poll? During the initial preseason ranking the Penn State football team came in at No. 7. Now, after Drew Allar and his teammates took care of business and defeated West Virginia 38-15 Saturday night, where do the AP Poll voters rank Penn State?

JUST IN: Penn State maintains in the latest AP Top 25 Ranking

As we entered Tuesday afternoon the AP Top 25 poll dropped their updated rankings. Penn State ended up 7th overall once again this week. The Nittany Lions entered the opening weekend of the college football season ranked 7th in the country. After their strong performance against West Virginia, the Penn State faithful were hopeful the Nittany Lions could make some movement. But given that the only team above them that lost was LSU who was No. 5 overall entering last week, there wasn’t much room to move up.

Flordia State has taken a leap after their victory Sunday night over LSU. Now that the Seminoles, have leapfrogged the Nittany Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes, who dropped to No. 5. Penn State will need to continue to take care of business in order to climb in the rankings. They take on the Deleware Blue Hens, an FCS foe this weekend before heading into conference play.

Drew Allar backed up the hype Saturday night

Penn State QB Drew Allar was announced as the starter as the crowd in Beaver Stadium roared. After a long summer of media hype and a QB competition between himself and Beau Pribula, Drew Allar stepped into the spotlight. He delivered for the Penn State fans, completing 21 of 29 pass attempts for 325 yards and three touchdown passes.

If Allar can continue to improve his game and the rest of the team can match his energy, defensively and on special teams, then the Nittany Lions will be in great shape.
