The Penn State football team has found great success when recruiting quarterbacks from Ohio. Drew Allar from Medina, Ohio, and 2024 Nittany Lion commit Ethan Grunkemeyer from Lewis Center, Ohio. James Franklin and his coaching staff now turn their attention to 2025 four-star QB Ryan Montgomery from Findlay, Ohio.

Has the Penn State football team found their 2025 QB?

Ryan Montgomery is a 6-4 215-pound four-star QB prospect in the 2025 recruiting class according to On3 and 247sports. On Tuesday evening Montgomery listed his final five schools which included Georgia, Florida, Michigan, South Carolina, and Penn State. An interesting note on this recruitment is that Ryan’s brother Luke Montgomery was an Ohio State commit in the 2023 cycle, yet Ryan did not include the Buckeyes in his final five schools even though they have offered him.

It does feel like Penn State has a great shot at landing Ryan Montgomery. Based on the history he has with visiting Penn State, according to his recruiting timeline, he has been to State College three times since 2021 and Coach Franklin even had taken the time to visit with Montgomery and his family.

Montgomery would help solidify a top-ten 2025 recruiting class

The Penn State football team’s 2025 recruiting class currently sits at 6th in the nation. They are led by Jaelyne Matthews the four-star offensive tackle as well as KeAndrea Barker the four-star running back commit, and Omari Gaines the three-star defensive back. All of these players have the tools to continue to gain more national attention on the recruiting trail.

If Mike Yurcich and company can land Ryan Montgomery it would only set Penn State up for success in the future.
