Penn State football becoming a contender for 4-star Ohio EDGE

Penn State football is gaining momentum on the recruiting trail, particularly in the 2024 cycle, which currently holds a prominent position in the college football landscape. Recently, the Nittany Lions have emerged as contenders for the recruitment of Brian Robinson, a four-star Ohio EDGE player. Robinson has attracted significant attention from several highly ranked regional teams, such as the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes. Adding him to James Franklin’s current class would undoubtedly strengthen the team.

Currently, a select few programs, including Michigan, Penn State, Pitt, Kentucky, Notre Dame, and others, appear to be leading the race for his commitment. According to the Recruiting Prediction Machine, Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines currently hold the edge in his recruitment.

In the composite rankings, Brian Robinson is ranked as the 125th-best recruit in the nation, the 11th best EDGE player in his class, and the fourth best recruit in Ohio. A recent article by On3 highlighted Penn State football as a significant contender in Robinson’s recruitment, which is an encouraging sign as summer recruiting heats up. Robinson has scheduled an official visit to Happy Valley in mid-June, and he is also considering visits to schools such as Pitt and Tennessee.

According to the Recruiting Prediction Machine, the 2024 Penn State football recruiting class currently has the third-best odds of securing Robinson’s commitment, trailing only Michigan and Kentucky at this point. If Penn State can make a strong impression during the summer, particularly during Robinson’s upcoming visit, the Nittany Lions have a real chance of landing one of the top defensive players in the class.
