Ethan Grunkemeyer is under close observation by Nittany Lions fans as a new Penn State football quarterback commit. Everyone will be watching to see how the future of the program is looking — and so far, so good for the rising three-star Ohio QB commit. This week, Grunkemeyer will be competing in the Elite 11 alongside some of the nation’s best, including Jadyn Davis (Michigan) and Air Noland (Ohio State). According to the young QB, he is ready for the challenge.

New Penn State football quarterback commits in May

Initially, many Penn State fans were torn about Ethan Grunkemeyer’s commitment. When he first committed, many were upset that the Blue and White opted for a three-star QB instead of pushing for a four-star QB like Michael Van Buren or Semaj Jones, who both seemed like viable options during the spring.

However, as time passed and more information was unveiled, many fans started to come around. Grunkemeyer may be a three-star right now, but then again, so was Drew Allar when he initially announced his pledge to Penn State football. Like Allar, Grunkemeyer is a strong-armed Ohio QB prospect; he even trains with the same quarterback coach as Allar.

Grunkemeyer showing elite poise and confidence

Leading up to the Elite 11 finals this week, Grunkemeyer showed that, in addition to possessing incredible arm talent, he exudes the confidence of a future Penn State football quarterback as well.

“I’m super excited about it and I’ve been looking forward to it since I got the invite,” Grunkemeyer said, according to ON3. “I’m excited to go compete against the best guys in the country and show what I can do and see how I stack up … It’s going to be cool to go represent Penn State at that showcase.”

Ethan Grunkemeyer is coming to Penn State football to be a winner, and although the Nittany Lions currently have a top 5 class nationally, that means that the new Penn State football quarterback is going to have to do some recruiting at the Elite 11 showcase.

“There are some guys that I’m going to have to do a little bit of recruiting on and get in the door on them and put Penn State in their mind,” Grunkemeyer said. “I can’t wait to go out and show the Penn State fan base kind of what they’re getting in a quarterback … I kind of have to find the guys that are there and express the interest Penn State has in them,” Grunkemeyer said. “I’d love to throw the ball to them and compete against the whether they’re on the offensive side or defensive side of the ball.”

This week, keep an eye out for new Penn State football quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer as he looks to continue turning heads nationally, perhaps earning a future fourth star ahead of national signing day with the Blue and White.
