Drew Allar is a sophomore quarterback with the Penn State football team and is currently heading into what should be his first year as a starting quarterback for the Nittany Lions. Still, despite all of these factors, the 6-foot-5 former five-star QB is already showing up as a top overall prospect (No. 2 pick) in the early 2025 NFL Draft projections, which is impressive, to say the least.

Drew Allar is already a top 2025 NFL Draft target

Drew Allar will likely be starting his first Penn State football game in just a few short months. Already, he is generating tons of hype in State College. Right now, the former five-star quarterback is the talk of the town and has even been on the receiving end of a lot of regional interest within the Big Ten. That said, some of the highest praise he has received thus far is regarding his potential for the 2025 NFL Draft.

According to the most recent 2025 NFL Draft rankings by Draft Countdown, Drew Allar is listed as the No. 2 overall prospect in his potential draft class. It’s worth pointing out that Allar will be eligible as early as 2025, however, we aren’t really sure of his abilities as a college QB yet, or if he will be ready after his junior year, so it’s uncertain if he will declare that early.

That being said, he is already in the national spotlight and is being touted as a top target for the 2025 NFL Draft off of frame and potential alone. Allar is only ranked behind Cade Klubnik, a quarterback for Clemson, in these new rankings.

Allar still has his work cut out for him with Penn State football

While Drew Allar is already a sought-after target for the NFL Draft, it’s important to note that he still has many college goals ahead of him at Penn State. This fall, Allar will be striving to bring the Nittany Lions their first Big Ten title since 2016 and secure the program’s first-ever College Football Playoff appearance.

Additionally, Allar aims to become Penn State’s second-ever Heisman Trophy winner, and in the years to come, he will strive to lead Penn State football to its first national title victory since the mid-1980s. While being hyped as a top NFL Draft target in 2025 is remarkable for the young quarterback, he must now live up to the expectations in order for this prediction to come true in the future.
