Penn State Football, regional DL prospect

After a busy weekend of recruiting visits, Penn State football is trending favorably towards several priority targets. One such player is regional DL prospect De’Andre Cook out of Washington, D.C., who was on campus this weekend. As of Sunday night, the Nittany Lions are now the leader in the clubhouse in this recruitment and are expected to land a commitment from Cook.

Crystal ball has De’Andre Cook committing to Penn State football

De’Andre Cook is a three-star DL recruit from the Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington, D.C. The 6-4, 260-pound prospect ranks as the fifth-best player out of the District of Columbia for the class of 2024. Cook officially received an offer from Penn State in April and also earned offers from Boston College, North Carolina, Rutgers, and most recently, Oklahoma, among others. Of note, Cook is the teammate of Dylan Stewart at the Friendship Academy, one of the nation’s top edge rushers and a high-priority prospect for Penn State in the 2024 cycle.

So far this month, Cook has visited several of his offered schools along the East Coast. After seeing Rutgers earlier in June, Cook visited North Carolina and Boston College last week. This past weekend, the regional DL prospect visited James Franklin and Penn State in Happy Valley. Following this visit, 247Sports’ Brian Dohn, one of the leading national recruiting experts in the country, put in a crystal ball prediction for Cook to land at Penn State. On3 also has the Nittany Lions as the leader in Cook’s recruitment, although no predictions have been placed by the outlet.

Dominos ready to fall?

The crystal ball prediction is the second in as many days for Penn State football. Over the weekend, the Nittany Lions were predicted to flip four-star Roman Catholic (Philadelphia) WR Tyseer Denmark from Oregon. Denmark officially decommitted from the Ducks late Sunday afternoon. Now, Penn State is on commitment watch for Denmark and Cook, among several other key prospects, as June rolls into its penultimate week.
