Another recruiting finalist list was released on Monday, and once again, the Nittany Lions made the cut. Earlier today, four-star athlete Josiah Brown released his top-7 remaining schools, and Penn State football made the cut along with some elite company. Brown is the No. 1 recruit in New York and is a massive target for James Franklin and his staff.

Penn State football named a finalist for No. 1 recruit in New York

Penn State football is one of seven remaining schools in the running for the No. 1 recruit in New York: Josiah Brown. Brown, a four-star athlete, is one of the most sought-after recruits in the class and could bring a versatile athletic presence to Penn State’s 2024 recruiting class.

According to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, Josiah Brown is a four-star athlete and is ranked as the No. 219 player nationally, the No. 17 athlete in the class, and the No. 1 recruit in New York. He has no crystal balls yet, though according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Penn State football has the second-best odds to land his commitment, only behind the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The other six finalists are Michigan, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

This list was dropped just a few days after Brown’s recent trip to Happy Valley ahead Blue/White weekend. On April 13th (last Thursday) Josiah Brown was on a recruiting visit with Nittany Lions; according to Brown, there is a lot of mutual interest between him and the Penn State football program.

“I’ve been talking to them very frequently. They’ve been recruiting me really well,” Brown told On3. “I love the coaching staff. They’ve  always treated me like one of their own. They always bring good energy and the visit I just took was amazing.”

This is a major recruitment for Penn State football fans to keep an eye on throughout the remainder of spring and summer.
