Penn State football recruiting: 4-star EDGE target announces official visit

Today has been an up-and-down day for the 2024 Penn State football recruiting class. Earlier today, two crystal balls were placed for Oregon to poach Penn State’s top 2024 quarterback target. Soon after, four-star EDGE Jaylen Harvey — a primary defensive line target for Penn State football — announced his official visit schedule, and the Penn State Nittany Lions made the cut.

According to Harvey’s Wednesday afternoon announcement, he will visit Penn State football on June 9th.

Who is 4-star EDGE target Jaylen Harvey?

Jaylen Harvey is a 247 Sports four-star composite EDGE in the 2024 recruiting class. Harvey is ranked as the No. 337 recruit nationally, the No. 27 edge rusher in the 2024 recruiting class, and the No. 9 recruit in the state of Maryland. Harvey, a regional pass rusher target for the 2024 Penn State football recruiting class, already has two crystal balls on 247 Sports — both are for the Nittany Lions.

On top of his three crystal balls to commit to Penn State football, Jaylen Harvey has a 93.3% chance to land in the Blue and White all said and done, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Harvey brings a sizable 6-foot-2, 235-pound frame to the table and is being recruited by several major programs, including Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Penn State, and more.

The 2024 Penn State football recruiting class could use more EDGE talent

The Nittany Lions’ 2024 recruiting class currently ranks No. 5 nationally, though it still trails the Michigan Wolverines (1) and Ohio State Buckeyes (3) in the Big Ten East. The 2024 Penn State football recruiting class currently has 12 hard commits — 7 four-stars and 5 three-stars — though it is without any EDGE commits thus far. This means that Penn State will undoubtedly make a significant push for Harvey’s commitment over the summer, and his official visit in June will be the perfect chance.
