One of the top remaining targets for Penn State football at wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting cycle is set to make his decision this week. On Tuesday night, Chaminade-Madonna Prep’s (Florida) Koby Howard announced that he will commit on Sunday, August 4. The decision comes a week after the blue chip receiver returned to visit James Franklin and the Nittany Lions for the Lasch Bash.
Howard will announce his commitment at 3 PM. He will choose between a final four of Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, and Penn State.
As a junior at Western High School, Koby Howard caught 65 passes for 1,065 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ran the ball for 224 yards and four scores and threw for 108 yards.
Although outside the top 50 nationally at his position in both outlets, Howard is still a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle per the On3 Industry Rankings and the 247Sports Composite. Rivals ranks the Florida pass catcher as the No. 28 receiver in the class.

Howard is a well-traveled prospect, with over 40 visits on the books during his recruitment. Only two of those trips have been to Penn State, but they’ve come at the right time. Howard took his official visit with the Nittany Lions in June, and returned last weekend for the Lasch Bash.
Florida and Ole Miss appeared to be trendy picks to land Howard early this summer, but James Franklin and the Nittany Lions have come on late.
As of Wednesday morning, Penn State football is now the favorite in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine. 247Sports’ Brian Dohn placed a crystal ball for Howard to commit to Penn State on Tuesday evening.
Howard’s decision comes as James Franklin and the Nittany Lions have missed on several receivers in the 2025 recruiting cycle in July, including top in-state target Lex Cyrus. Penn State’s 17th-ranked recruiting class has two receivers committed in the class: Lyrick Samuel and Jeff Exinor.
