Penn State football QB commit set to transfer before senior season

Before he makes his way to Happy Valley next year, Penn State football commit Bekkem Kritza will have one more change of scenery during his high school career. On Monday, the Nittany Lions 2025 QB commit announced that he is transferring back to Florida high school powerhouse Miami Central. Kritza had previously played for Miami Central before returning to his native Fairview High School in Colorado last season.

Penn State QB commit Bekkem Kritza has crossed the map several times during his high school career. He will do so one final time, announcing his return to Miami Central High School for his senior season. “I am grateful that everyone is in better health and we are able to return to our life here in Miami,” Kritza told Tom Loy of 247Sports Monday. “Excited to get back to work with my Rocket family!”

Bekkem Kritza started his high school career at Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado, where he threw for over 3,000 yards and 22 touchdowns as a freshman. He transferred to Miami Central in 2022, where he passed for 267 yards in a backup role.

The Penn State commit returned to Colorado last year for personal reasons. Not cleared to play by the Colorado High School Activities Association until after Week 6, Kritza threw for 1,700 yards with a 20-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio for Fairview in 2023.

A three-star prospect, Bekkem Kritza was rated as the No. 1 player in Colorado for the 2025 recruiting cycle when he committed to Penn State football in November. The 247Sports composite rankings now have him as the No. 62 overall prospect in Florida and the No. 33 QB for 2025.

Will Penn State football have a two QB class?

Bekkem Kritza may not be the only QB that Penn State football signs in the 2025 recruiting cycle. James Franklin and the Nittany Lions are also still pushing for top in-state QB Matt Zollers.

Zollers has visited campus six times and picked up a Penn State offer in November. The Spring-Ford product has garnered much attention nationally, picking up offers from multiple SEC programs in the last month. Zollers put the Nittany Lions in his top schools list, along with Georgia, Pitt, and Missouri, on February 6.

It’s likely that Matt Zollers’ profile will only continue to rise. The 6-3, 200-pound prospect was elevated to the No. 3 QB and No. 17 player nationally in the updated On300 rankings released Monday. While Penn State football is currently viewed as the favorite, the Nittany Lions still have some work to do if they want to lock down a two QB class in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
