Recruits naturally pick up momentum from national recruiting experts after their junior season. That’s typically when deep film evaluation and players have the chance to attend camps to boost their notoriety. For 2025 recruiting class member and Penn State football target Matt Zollers he is starting to see the results of his hard work. After the latest update to the On3 rankings, Zollers is now one of the class’s top quarterbacks.

The recruiting industry continues to improve its algorithm. With that comes more national attention on specific prospects. The Nittany Lions have been in a grueling battle to attempt to land 2025 QB Matt Zollers from Royersford, PA. He flew under the radar for most of his recruiting cycle, however, now Zollers is rising as one of the class’s best quarterbacks.

According to On3 Zollers is now the No. 17 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. He has also risen to be the No. 3 QB and the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania. Zollers is a household name, and Penn State must dig deep to secure his commitment.

It’s note-worthy that Zollers has taken the most visits to the Penn State football team according to his On3 profile. He has been in State College on 6 total visits thus far. On3 now has Zollers listed as one of the best players in the country, and 247Sports has him slated as the 148th overall player in the class.

What’s the appeal for Matt Zollers to national recruiting experts?

According to the Director of Scouting and Rankings for On3 Charles Power Zollers has a lot to offer at the next level. In the article 2025 prospects On3 ranks higher than the recruiting industry Power stated “Matt Zollers is a quarterback that we’ve been high on for some time at On3. He was a four-star outlier for us in the mid-season junior update with just one Power Five offer. Has since seen his recruitment explode and I think that’s certainly with good reason.

His play-making ability, I think stacks up perhaps the best that we’ve evaluated among this QB group — at least what he showed as a junior. He’s got the projectable, physical traits. Over 6-foot-3.5, 200 pounds, very good athlete, tests well in the combine setting and it’s in a functional way, you see it on Friday nights. He can really make improvisational, creative plays. Big-time arm, can push the ball vertically, you see him make 60-plus yard throws on Fridays with accuracy. Had a really strong junior season, there’s not many holes to poke in Zollers’ game…”
