Penn State Football, Northwestern, Big ten
Penn State tight end Theo Johnson (84) runs after making a catch against Iowa in a White Out football game at Beaver Stadium Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, in State College, Pa.

Penn State football dismantled Iowa 31-0 last weekend in front of an electric White Out crowd. This week, the Nittany Lions travel back to Illinois to take on the Northwestern Wildcats in Evanston. Although Northwestern just pulled off a surprising upset over Minnesota last week, most expect Penn State to come home Saturday with an easy win. As the Nittany Lions look to close out September in dominant fashion, is there an argument to Penn State being the best team in the Big Ten? We tackle that and more in this week’s edition of our Penn State football gameday central.

Tailgate Talk Podcast: Is Penn State football the best team in the Big Ten?

Tailgate Talk is a podcast that brings together lifelong friends and Penn State fans to cover all the happenings around the Nittany Lion football program. Each week, the gang provides their honest, unfiltered, and (sometimes) wild opinions in what can only be described as tailgate talk.

In this week’s episode, the guys recap one of the most dominant wins for Penn State football in recent memory. It’s difficult to find much to nitpick after a dominant 31-0 performance in the White Out against Iowa.

Before breaking down this week’s matchup against Northwestern, the guys debate if Penn State is the best team in the Big Ten this season. You can certainly make the argument that, while Ohio State has the best win over Notre Dame, the Nittany Lions have the best resume of work. However, everyone still knows that the biggest tests of the year still loom. Ultimately, it’s hard to not feel good about Penn State heading into October.

As always, the guys wrap up the show with their best bets and game props from around college football for Week 5.

Penn State Roar Room: Nittany Lions get their revenge against Iowa, look ahead to Northwestern

The Penn State Roar Room is back! This week, we reconnected with everyone’s favorite Penn State online personality, Caroline, to break down all the action on and off the field.

In this episode, we wrap up Penn State’s domination of Iowa, including how the Nittany Lions got their revenge for the 2021 loss in Kinnick Stadium. We then look ahead to Saturday’s matchup at Northwestern. Ryan Field is one of the less intimidating environments in the Big Ten, but will the lack of energy impact Penn State football?

The Wildcats roared back for a stunning upset over Minnesota last week. While the Nittany Lions pose a much tougher test, Penn State needs to be on guard against a team that’s looking to shock the nation on a sleepy Saturday in the Chicago suburbs.
