The Penn State football team was optimistic that they could land the No. 1 prospect and No. 1 QB in the 2025 recruiting class. This is QB Bryce Underwood who just made his commitment. Unfortunately, James Franklin and the Nittany Lions were unable to close the deal as Underwood made his commitment to LSU this afternoon. Bryce Underwood is widely regarded as a generational talent. He is currently the No. 1 QB and No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class according to 247sports. From Belleville, Michigan Underwood finally has reached a decision and made his commitment to the LSU Tigers today.

Penn State football fans should not be too discouraged by this decision. Although the Nittany Lions were contenders for Underwood you have to keep in mind that Penn State has already signed a QB within the 2025 recruiting class. Bekkem Kritza who is currently ranked as the No. 1 player in Colorado made his commitment to the Nittany Lions on November 14th.

How were the Nittany Lions in the hunt?

Wednesday, Steve Wiltfong, the Director of Recruiting for 247sports, wrote a piece called 5-star QB Bryce Underwood, 2025’s top recruit, ready to announce commitment. In this article, Underwood explained why Penn State football still has a shot with the No.1 player in 2025.

Underwood said, “Coach (Danny) O’Brien has been a big factor with me having them on my list. I feel like, without coach O’Brien, they wouldn’t be in the position they are, in my eye. They have a great coaching staff. They push their players amazing, and it’s a great place to be.”
