Yesterday, the Nittany Lions landed yet another massive addition to the 2024 recruiting class: four-star offensive lineman (and No. 1 recruit in WI) Donovan Harbour. Now, Penn State football is projected to land another major four-star recruit: 2024 running back Corey Smith out of Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, WI. Smith is the teammate of Penn State’s newest commit, and could be looking to follow his elite offensive lineman to State College — he recently set his commitment date for next week.

2024 running back Corey Smith

The addition of Corey Smith could boost the 2024 Penn State football recruiting class into the top-5 of the 247 Sports Composite rankings; right now, the Nittany Lions’ class ranks No. 6 in the composite rankings and is a top 10 class according to every major recruiting service.

Corey Smith, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound running back from the same high school as Donovan Harbour, is one of the top-ranked running backs in the 2024 class and could be a massive pickup for Penn State football. Smith is rated as a four-star by every major outlet and is ranked as the No. 206 recruit in the 2024 class, the No. 14 running back in the nation, and the No. 3 recruit in Wisconsin.

Penn State football favored to land Smith

So far, Smith has two crystal balls — both for Penn State football — and the Nittany Lions lead the race according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (96.8% chance to land him). If Smith commits, he would be Penn State’s 11th hard commit in the class, and the seventh 247 Sports four-star pickup for James Franklin. If Penn State wants to continue inching closer to Michigan and Ohio State on the recruiting trail, landing more major talents like Corey Smith will be necessary.
