Today, the top Penn State football commit in the 2025 recruiting class, Jaelyne Matthews, inked a new NIL deal. Despite being a few years away from signing with the Nittany Lions, Matthews is already garnering all kinds of national interest, from Big Ten and SEC offers to a new NIL deal. Few recruits are receiving as much praise as Matthews right now.

Today, Jaelyne Matthews signed a new NIL deal with a business based in New Jersey. As he currently plays high school football in New Jersey, he is allowed to enter into NIL deals, even though he is just a rising high school junior. The specifics of his new deal with Slice House have not been released to the public.

Matthews holds the distinction of being Penn State’s top commit in the 2025 class and recently received a rankings boost in the updated 2025 ON3 recruiting rankings. He is now recognized as a top 100 commit, ranking at No. 61 nationally, No. 7 among offensive tackles, and the No. 1 recruit in the state of New Jersey. According to the updated rankings, he is among the top ten committed players in the 2025 class thus far.

Despite Matthews’ commitment to Penn State football, the Nittany Lions are still facing strong competition from several elite programs, including the Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Bulldogs, and others. This new regional NIL deal not only benefits the recruiting image of Penn State but also bodes well for the young Nittany Lion commit.
