There have been a few games this season where Penn State football and James Franklin have been called out. This happened after the Week 1 win over West Virginia when Neal Brown wasn’t happy with Franklin scoring a touchdown at the end of the game. Then, last night Michigan State fans had something to say about how aggressive the Nittany Lions were when the game was out of hand. But at the end of the day, if you don’t like Manny Diaz blitzing late in the game, then stop it from happening.

This college football season has not been kind to the Michigan State Spartans. After Mel Tucker was fired, the team took a turn for the worse with their on-field performances. That was on full display last night against the Penn State football team. Michigan State was unable to stop Penn State from running or throwing the ball. Then, when Manny Diaz and his defensive unit hit the field Michigan State wasn’t able to move to ball at all. But late-game decisions had Michigan State fans outraged on social media.

Look, at the end of the day, it’s football. A lot of the Nittany Lions that were on the field late in the game were true freshmen. They need game reps to develop further, and Manny Diaz and James Franklin are not going to stop coaching because the game is out of hand.

Michigan State has been there

Let’s not forget about the 2015 Penn State vs. Michigan State game. It was 48-16 when Mark Dantonio put his senior center Jack Allen in at running back to score a late rushing touchdown against the Nittany Lions.

It’s something that all teams do at some point. But how these moments get remembered years later is what you need to watch. I’m sure at some point, Michigan State will be on the other side of this argument but that doesn’t appear that will be anytime soon. The Nittany Lions will hold onto the greatest trophy in all of college sports.
