Last week, Pro Football Focus released its top-101 player from the 2022 NFL season, which concluded two weeks ago when the Chiefs defeated the Eagles, 38-35. Two former Penn State Nittany Lions made the list, though one ranked among the league’s elite players: former Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons.

Micah Parsons ranks top-5 according to PFF

Here is what Pro Football Focus had to say about the former Penn State football standout, who dominated the Big Ten in the Blue and White — primarily during the Nittany Lions’ 11-2 season in 2019.

“It’s worth remembering that this was Parsons’ first full-time season as an edge rusher. He was immediately one of the best in the game, dominating lesser opponents and beating some of the best tackles in the game for their first sacks allowed this season.”

Parsons — who ranks No. 5 overall on the list — was the second-highest-ranking defender on PFF’s list, only behind Chris Jones, who just won a Super Bowl and was named PFF’s Defensive Player of the Year following his stellar season with Kansas City.

Parsons’ stats from 2022-23 NFL season

Throughout the course of the 2022-23 Dallas Cowboys season, standout linebacker Micah Parsons recorded 65 tackles (42 solo), 13.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. Parsons is one of few players in the league that opposing teams must gameplan for on defense — his presence off the edge gives the Cowboys a defensive advantage whenever he touches the football field.

Just two years into his young NFL career, Parsons has already recorded 149 total tackles (106 solo), 26.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and three fumbles recovered. The sky is the limit for this former Penn State football standout edge rusher.
