This morning, the Nittany Lions got a lot better and continued to heat up on the recruiting trail this spring. Earlier today, the 2024 Penn State football recruiting class landed a huge commitment from four-star cornerback Jon Mitchell, who ranks inside of the top 10 best corners in his class. With this massive commitment, the Nittany Lions’ 2024 class made a huge jump in the team recruiting rankings from just inside of the top 20, to now inside of the top 15.

2024 Penn State football recruiting class makes massive leap into the top 15 after huge four-star commitment on Saturday morning

To kick off the month of April, the 2024 Penn State football recruiting class added a massive defensive addition to its ranks. The Nittany Lions picked up Jon Mitchell — a four-star cornerback from Florida — who should make a great addition to the Manny Diaz-led Penn State defense. With the addition of Jon Mitchell, Penn State’s newest recruiting class also saw a sizable jump in the On3 team recruiting rankings (industry), as the Nittany Lions are now ranked inside of the top 15.

The 2024 Penn State football recruiting class is ranked No. 14 overall and No. 3 in the Big Ten conference (behind Michigan and Ohio State currently) with six players committed — three four-stars and three three-stars. The Nittany Lions’ new recruiting class is also ranked in the top 15 according to the 247 Sports composite, who has Penn State at No. 13 in the nation and No. 3 in the Big Ten with five four-stars and one three star.

The class is still young, but it’s clear that James Franklin is working on yet another incredible group of young Lions with his new 2024 Penn State football recruiting class. The future of football in State College is bright, Penn State fans.
