On Sunday, Penn State football landed a massive transfer wide receiver: Dante Cephas. Heading into the 2023 college football season, the Nittany Lions are looking stacked on both sides of the football; however, the wide receiver room was looking a bit thin, which was seemingly

What does Cephas bring to State College?

Dante Cephas was a perfect get for Penn State football as we head into the 2023 season; especially seeing as the Nittany Lions are going through a quarterback change to rising sophomore Drew Allar. Seeing as Mitchell Tinsley and Parker Washington are headed to the NFL Draft, former No. 1 overall recruit Drew Allar could use some help at wide out.

Over the past two seasons with Kent State, Cephas has hauled in 130 passes for nearly 2,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. Cephas has an average of 15.3 yards-per-catch and should be a solid target for Allar this fall.

Cephas brings a decent frame to State College as well; he stands at 6’1″ and weighs in at 186 lbs. Additionally, Cephas is a Pittsburgh, PA native and will be a senior by the time he arrives on campus at Penn State.

Cephas makes Penn State’s offense even better

After the Nittany Lions’ impressive turnaround season in 2022 — one which saw PSU finish 11-2 and in the top-10 after a Rose Bowl victory — Penn State is looking like a possible Big Ten Championship contender in 2023. The Lions are heading into the season with high expectations as we turn the page from the Sean Clifford era into the Drew Allar era, and Cephas just puts PSU one step closer to a title.

This fall, Penn State football will have its best offensive line that it has assembled in years, a young and quite talented quarterback under centered, an elite running back duo, and more. With Cephas in the WR room, Penn State’s offense has few excuses to not be among the nation’s best in 2023.
