The talk of the town in State College, PA right now is the Penn State Nittany Lions’ rising sophomore quarterback Drew Allar. After four years of Sean Clifford under center, most Penn State fans are ready for a change, and that change will come in the form of the extremally talented, former No. 1 prospect Drew Allar. We all know Allar has an incredible arm — few will ever question that — but no one appears to be talking about another dangerous aspect of Allar’s game: his legs.

Drew Allar’s legs will be crucial aspect of Penn State’s offense

Throughout the 2022 season, despite being the backup to 6th-year QB Sean Clifford, Drew Allar turned heads nationally. We saw Allar make some incredible throws from all areas on the field — at this point, fans expect the young quarterback to walk on water and deliver a national title. While one of these things may come true, let’s try to keep our expectations rational here.

That being said, Allar’s ability to roll out and make plays, run for first downs, and adjust his positioning in the pocket will be crucial to the offense’s success this fall. Even as a true freshman, Allar showed incredible pocket presence and the ability to run when asked to do so — he may not be the fastest on the roster, but his long legs and 6-5 frame carry him quickly down the field when needed.
