STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Throughout the 2022 season, Penn State football saw some stellar performances from their freshman class. Names like Drew Allar, Kaytron Allen, Nick Singleton, and Abdul Carter headlined Penn State’s 2022 freshman class during the Nittany Lions’ incredible 11-2 Rose Bowl-winning season.

This week, the Lions’ standout freshman class from a season ago was ranked in the top 3 by Pro Football Focus.

On Thursday, Penn State’s 2022 freshman class received some high praise from Pro Football Focus, a major sports media outlet. According to Chad Maxwick of PFF College, Penn State has the second-best freshman class a season ago — the only program with a better freshman class last season was the LSU Tigers, who finished 10-4 overall and won their division in year one of the Brian Kelly era.

This year, Penn State’s 2022 freshman class will have a much larger role. Star players like Abdul Carter (LB) will be expected to step up and lead Penn State’s defense, while standouts like Drew Allar will be expected to do the same on offense. Additionally, the Nittany Lions might have the two best sophomore running backs in the nation in their backfield — Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, Penn State’s elite running back duo, outperformed expectations in 2022 and are gearing up for even bigger things this fall.
