James Franklin has been quite clear about his team’s spring transfer portal needs ahead of summer camp: defensive tackle and wide receiver. Since the spring transfer portal window began last weekend, Penn State football has been targeting a few major portal players, including former Rivals 5-star defensive tackle Bear Alexander. On Saturday, Bear Alexander announced his top remaining schools — including Penn State — and his set his commitment date.

On Saturday, Penn State football transfer portal target Bear Alexander took to Twitter to release his top-6 remaining schools and his commitment date. The six schools that Alexander will choose from are Penn State, Miami, Colorado, USC, Texas, and Oregon. Rumors are flying that USC is his top choice right now, though we will not have to wait long to find out.

Bear Alexander also released his commitment date — according to his announcement, he will commit on Sunday night (April 23rd) via Footballville.

For Penn State football, landing this enormous former 5-star would be a massive addition to the depth of the defensive line ahead of a crucial 2023 season. Penn State is looking stacked all over, though the addition of a physical tackle would make the Nittany Lions’ defense even more dangerous against run-first teams like the Michigan Wolverines. According to the On3 transfer portal rankings, Alexander is a four-star transfer after seeing one season of action with the national champion Georgia Bulldogs last year.
