Yesterday, the Penn State football program had the honor of hosting a prominent regional quarterback from the 2025 recruiting class: four-star QB Blake Herbert from Catholic Central High School in MA. The visit exceeded expectations, to the extent that the talented four-star prospect has announced on his Twitter account that he is departing Happy Valley with a brand new scholarship offer.

Penn State football offers four-star quarterback following successful visit

Saturday was a noteworthy day for Penn State football’s recruiting efforts in the 2024 and 2025 classes. To commence, the No. 2 recruit in Pennsylvania revealed that he was present in Happy Valley in the morning.

Following this exciting recruiting update, the Nittany Lions successfully addressed a crucial need in the 2024 class by securing the commitment of three-star quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer. Furthermore, they have now identified a new quarterback target for the 2025 class: four-star QB Blake Herbert.

As per Herbert’s announcement, his visit to Penn State and productive discussions with the coaching staff have led to a new scholarship offer. With the Nittany Lions gaining momentum in the 2025 class, this early sign bodes well as they seek to secure a promising quarterback for the upcoming cycle.

According to the ON3 rankings, Herbert is a four-star quarterback prospect, ranked as the No. 65 recruit in his class, the No. 6 quarterback in the nation, and the top recruit in Massachusetts. While it is too early to determine his level of interest, it is worth noting that Penn State’s offer is his sixth from the Big Ten conference and represents his most prestigious offer thus far.
