Currently, the 2024 Penn State football recruiting class holds an impressive position among the nation’s top rankings, sitting at No. 6 in the composite rankings. Securing high-quality talent during the summer is crucial for the Nittany Lions’ competitiveness, especially considering the strong recruiting classes of Michigan and Ohio State. Today, it was revealed that James Franklin, the head coach, has identified a new recruiting target: Dimitry Nicolas, a three-star defensive lineman from Florida in the class of 2024.

As the 2023 season approaches, Penn State football faces a depth issue at the defensive line position. However, the Nittany Lions are actively addressing this need, among others, by exploring options in the transfer portal. While securing a recruit from the 2024 class may not immediately alleviate the current situation, it does indicate that the coaching staff is aware of the depth problem and is taking steps to prevent a repeat.

Dimitry Nicolas, a three-star defensive lineman from Florida, is one of the notable prospects Penn State is pursuing. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Nicolas is ranked as one of the top 50 defensive line targets in his class, specifically holding the 44th spot among defensive linemen and the 71st position among prospects in Florida.

Standing at an impressive 6-foot-3 and weighing over 260 pounds, it’s worth noting that Nicolas is heading into his senior year of high school. This suggests that there is still ample room for growth in various aspects of his game before the signing day arrives.
