Penn State football has lost one of its top commitments in the 2025 recruiting cycle in the closing days before early National Signing Day. On Friday afternoon, four-star Mill Valley (KS) edge rusher Jayden Woods flipped his commitment from the Nittany Lions to the Florida Gators.

Woods announced his decision to Hayes Fawcett of On3. Committed to the Nittany Lions since June, Woods initially chose Penn State football over Wisconsin, Purdue, and Tennessee.

Woods’s father, Justin, played running back for Kansas State in 2007 when James Franklin was the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator.

Earning an offer from the Gators last November, Billy Napier and the Florida staff have pursued Jayden Woods persistently over the fall. Last weekend, Woods took an official visit to Gainesville to watch Florida take on Ole Miss.

The No. 7 edge rusher and the No. 75 overall recruit in 247Sports’ rankings for 2025, Woods was the highest-rated commitment for Penn State football in the cycle. That honor now goes to Paramus (NJ) offensive lineman Malachi Goodman.

Before the decommitment, Penn State football had the No. 15 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle. The Nittany Lions now sit at No. 17 nationally.

The early National Signing Period begins on Wednesday, December 4, and will run through Friday, December 6.
