The biggest football mathcup in the Big Ten to this point in the season is slated to happen on Saturday. The No. 3 Michigan Wolverines (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten) will travel to State College to meet the No. 10 Penn State football program (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten). The national media and fans alike have been salivating in the buildup to this matchup. Even with the looming sign stealing scandal surrounding Michigan football, folks are ready to take in this sure-to-be spectacle. Most of the national media feels that the Wolverines should win on Saturday, given the positional advantages Michigan has over the Nittany Lions in key areas. However, top CBS Sports analyst and host of The Late Kick Josh Pate sees the game going a little differently.

Josh Pate will be in State College for Michigan-Penn State game

A top CBS Sports analyst, Josh Pate hosts one of the most popular shows in the college football landscape, Late Kick. Three days per week, his shows are jam-packed with predictions, reactions, ratings, and overall great college football analysis.

This season, Pate has been to a ton of big games. He chooses one game per week to attend in person as part of his Once Upon a Saturday Tour. The tour has already featured Penn State football once so far this season. Pate was on-site when the Nittany Lions traveled to Columbus and lost to Ohio State in a 20-12 decision.

Penn State may have been snubbed by College GameDay this weekend, but some still recognize the magnitude of Saturday’s matchup. This week, Pate announced that he will be traveling to State College to bring his weekly tour to Beaver Stadium for when the Nittany Lions take on the Michigan football program.

Top CBS Sports analyst picks Nittany Lions to upset Michigan football

The popular take from media and fans this week is that Michigan will go into Beaver Stadium and cruise to victory. Michigan football fans are a confident bunch, and in many ways they deserve to be. The Wolverines have mauled every one of their nine opponents to date. Although their opponents have mostly been on the weaker side, it is important to give credit where due.

Don’t expect Penn State football to roll over and die on Saturday, though. The Nittany Lions boasts the second-ranked unit in total defense and the top unit in sacks nationally. There are plenty of reasons to think that Penn State can exit Saturday’s game victorious.

Josh Pate is among the few optimistic about Penn State this weekend, as he has picked the Nittany Lions to win outright in his breakdown of the game on Tuesday night. To add insult to injury, he has also added Penn State +5.5 to his weekly assortment of best bets, signifying his confidence in the outcome.

Not many out there have made this kind of prediction, so it is definitely refreshing to see Penn State football getting some love. Nittany Lions fans should be excited for Saturday, as this is the biggest home game of the season. It is also the annual “Stripe Out” game, which is sure to bring an awesome environment into the fold.

Michigan at Penn State is officially slated to kickoff at noon and will air on FOX.
