ESPN’s College GameDay has essentially been the most popular live pregame show for college football since its inception in 1993. Penn State football sits at No. 6 in the AP Top 25 a few short days before traveling to Columbus to take on the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes. Typically, games this big would be a no-brainer for the major pregame show to attend. However, the changing landscape of college football media rights deals has seemingly muddled the GameDay selection process in recent years. But that is not the case for Week 8, as College GameDay has decided to head to the Penn State vs. Ohio State game next weekend.
College GameDay will be at Penn State vs. Ohio State
During the Penn State football blowout against the UMass Minutemen today, National College Football Writer for FOX Sports Bryan Fischer announced that both College Gameday and Big Noon Kickoff have chosen their Week 8 destination. To no surprise, both shows will be on-site at the game between Penn State and Ohio State.
There has certainly been no shortage of great games between the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes over the years. Most recently, College GameDay was in Columbus for this matchup on November 23, 2019. No. 8 Penn State fell at the hands of the No. 2 Buckeyes 28-17 that particular afternoon.
The show has been on-site for 24 Penn State football games, nine of which were in State College. College GameDay was most recently at Penn State for the Nittany Lions’ 2021 White Out game, a 28-20 victory over the Auburn Tigers. The popular show was only at one Penn State football game in the 2022 season, which was the Rose Bowl Game.
In recent years, there has been speculation that GameDay tries to avoid Big Ten Conference games since they are no longer being aired on ESPN networks. Beginning this season, Big Ten Conference matchups are on FOX, CBS, NBC, and Big Ten Network only.
Big Noon Kickoff will be on-site for epic clash between Penn State and Ohio State
Although a disappointing decision, fans will still be able to take in another pregame show live from Ohio Stadium. FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff show will be on-site covering the game beginning at 10 AM ET next Saturday.
The game between the Nittany Lions and the Buckeyes officially kicks off at Noon ET and will air on FOX. The game will be called by Gus Johnson (play-by-play), Joel Klatt (color), and Jenny Taft (sideline).
