As the Penn State football team continues to prepare for West Virginia, the team still lacks an official starting quarterback. But that doesn’t change the fact that James Franklin had nothing but good things to say about Drew Allar. Franklin spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon and spoke about several traits that Allar has shown during fall camp. But this one statistic that he brought up stood out the most.

This crazy stat indicates that Drew Allar is ready to be QB1

The Penn State football team is predicted to have one of the top defensive units in the country. So, when Drew Allar goes against that unit turnovers would be expected. But during James Franklin’s press conference, he mentioned this impressive statistic.

Franklin said, “Yeah, I think I would say touchdown to interception ratio or just interceptions in general. …I want to say that we got to practice 13 or 14 you know, I think before we had a turnover, or interception specifically with Drew. So, that’s valuable in terms of evaluating a quarterback, especially with the type of defense that we are going against every single day.”

Obviously, the Penn State community has seen how smooth Drew Allar was last season. Thinking about that Purdue game, his first ever college action where he was thrown into the fire. He showed such poise and maturity in that environment. It’s clear that has continued to translate to fall camp in 2023.

Although James Franklin has not officially named a starting quarterback, all signs point towards Allar at the moment. That’s not to discredit how much Beau Pribula has competed with Allar. The next question becomes, will all of Beaver Stadium find out who the starting quarterback is on Saturday night during starting lineups? Only time will tell.
