Former Penn State football quarterback Trace McSorley continues to chase his NFL future. He most recently played for the New England Patriots in the 2023 preseason. Unfortunately, he did not make the 53-man roster and went to free agency. He was on Penn State’s campus for the White Out game a few weeks ago, but abruptly left for a workout with a new NFL team. He did not land that job, and so he moved forward with a new opportunity that became public on Tuesday morning from Mike Garafolo.

It was first reported by NFL Network analyst Mike Garafolo that the Indianapolis Colts are working out a new batch of quarterbacks. On Sunday, the Colts lost Anthony Richardson to injury, the franchise will be without Richardson over the next several weeks with a shoulder injury. Because of this, Gardner Minshew will take over as the starting quarterback for the Colts but they need depth behind him. The only other healthy QB on the roster is Sam Ehlinger, so the team brought in other prospects for a workout.

Those players included Kellen Mond, Anthony Brown, Holton Ahlers, and former Penn State football QB Trace McSorley. If he can sign with the Colts he can continue his career in the NFL, if not he will continue to search for his next opportunity.

McSorley was drafted in the 6th round of the 2019 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He spent the 2019-2021 with the Ravens and then spent the last few games of the 2021 season and the 2022 season with the Arizona Cardinals. McSorley has 1 touchdown pass and has thrown for 502 yards in his NFL career.
