Drew Allar has been impressive so far this season. He has led the Penn State football team to three victories and has yet to turn the ball over. Last year against Illinois he faced his toughest challenge yet. However, Allar bounced back from the adversity that he faced and learned a lot from that game. A characteristic that describes Allar’s play style is poised. In the face of pressure he doesn’t flinch and he has the numbers that reflect that.

It’s one thing to deliver when the pocket is clean. It’s another to be able to deliver accurate passes when a 300-pound defender is in your face. According to PFF College Drew Allar is the highest-rated quarterback when under pressure during the first three weeks of this season.

Some interesting numbers that PFF College has pulled for Drew Allar this season. When he is blitzed his numbers are 29-of-46 for 369 yards, 3 TD, and 0 INT (109.8 NFL rating). He has proven to be at his best when teams come after him. This is an area where most quarterbacks struggle. So, for Allar to already have this area of the game figured out, it’s a promising sign of things to come for the Penn State football team.

Looking for revenge

This weekend Penn State will face the Iowa Hawkeyes in a ranked whiteout game. Last time those two teams faced off the Iowa fans and coaching staff were not kind to the Nittany Lions. The question is will James Franklin use this as motivation headed into this big matchup?
