Will Penn State football land the No. 1 QB prospect in PA?

Nothing is guaranteed in college football. But, for the Nittany Lions, it feels like their quarterback room is set up to be successful for many years to come. That all starts with current QB Drew Allar and his decision to come to Penn State. But Beau Pribula and Jaxon Smolik sound like they are very solid prospects in the current room for Penn State football. The future holds 4-star Ethan Grunkemeyer, who has shot up recruiting rankings and will make his way on campus in 2024. But beyond 2024, the Nittany Lions need to find their guy. Could it be homegrown prospect Matt Zollers in the 2025 recruiting class?

Will Penn State football land the No. 1 QB prospect in PA?

Matt Zollers is a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, according to On3. He is from Royersford, PA, and currently attends Spring-Ford High School. He is the No. 7 player in PA in 2025 and the No. 1 quarterback in the state. Matt Zollers currently holds offers from Pittsburgh, Temple, and Syracuse. But recently, he landed an offer from the Penn State football team.

The Nittany Lions are currently searching for their next quarterback prospect, and they have seen enough from Zollers to offer him a scholarship. Hopefully, he can attend some camps in State College this summer to get a better evaluation of this prospect. He is listed at 6’3 200 pounds, and according to his social media, he threw for over 2,500 yards and 32 touchdown passes against 2 interceptions in 10 games in 2023. Incredible numbers from an up-and-coming player.

Current 2025 Penn State football recruiting class

The Penn State football team has slowly put together a nice class in 2025 so far. Right after the Whiteout game against Iowa, the Nittany Lions saw an uptick in commitments. Currently, the class is led by DJ McClary, a four-star linebacker prospect. They have two running back commits in KiAndrea Barker and Tiqwai Hayes, and have found a gem in tight end Brady O’Hara.

If they could add Zollers, the Nittany Lions would be off to a start start in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
