Nick Singleton has a unique work ethic according to RB Coach Ja’Juan Seider

The hype surrounding Penn State football running back Nick Singleton was through the roof headed into last season. He was able to live up to that hype and deliver on his five-star ranking. Now, that he has a full offseason under his belt it will be scary to see what he can do after living in the weight room and watching additional films. This is just the beginning of a special career for another star running back who is coached by one of the best in Ja’Juan Seider.

As Basic Blues Nation had part of our staff at the Penn State football media availability on Sunday, we were able to spend time with Penn State running back coach Ja’Juan Seider. Listening to him speak was enjoyable because you could tell in his voice how proud he was to coach both Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen as well as the rest of the Nittany Lion running backs.

When speaking about Nick Singleton Seider said “It’s unique when your best player can have that type of work ethic but also be that coachable.”

Singleton was a highly recruited player but understood that everything needed to be earned on the field. He put in the work that was necessary to be successful but also knew that he wasn’t perfect. It’s one thing to have pure athleticism to make you a star player, it’s another to have the maturity and the listening skills to take constructive criticism and continue to improve.

How does the Penn State star handle the pressure?

With all eyes on Singleton from a national and local media perspective, we asked Coach Seider how does Nick Singleton handle the attention? To which Seider responded with “Not too hot and not too cold and that’s what Nick is. He doesn’t get caught up with all of the pats on the back, he’s not a big social media guy, he allows himself to stay humble.”

Nick Singleton is the perfect type of player he is humble, works hard, and lets his play on the field do the talking. Big things ahead for the sophomore star.
