It’s safe to say that this summer will be important for many members of the 2025 recruiting class. With National Signing Day in December, most athletes decide over the summer. Penn State football will push to sign as many of the top remaining talent in the 2025 cycle. Part of that decision-making will take place once official visits wrap up. Now, Josh Johnson has officially announced he will return to campus this summer for his Penn State official visit.

Josh Johnson is from Ironton, Ohio, and a member of the 2025 recruiting class. Currently listed as a three-star prospect, Johnson is an athlete who can play wide receiver and defensive back. However, On 247Sports and On3 he is listed as a safety assuming that is the position he will play at the next level.

The connection to Penn State football is strong with Johnson as they are one of the first major programs to offer him. He has been a late riser picking up his first FBS offers in November of 2023 that’s when Penn State offered Johnson and he took an unofficial visit on the same day.

Now, Johnson looks to return to Happy Valley on June 7th for his official visit. He currently holds offers from West Virginia, Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky, Penn State, and several other schools.

The latest member of the 2025 recruiting class

Penn State football earned their 12th commitment of the 2025 cycle last week. This was Lyrick Samuel a three-star wide receiver from New York. Samuel is the first wide receiver to commit to the Nittany Lions in this cycle with potentially more prospects on the way.

At this time, Penn State has a top-five recruiting class and looking to maintain that through the rest of the cycle.
