The 2025 recruiting class has been growing over the past few weeks for the Penn State football team. The Nittany Lions show no signs of slowing down on the recruiting trail. Tonight, they earned their 12th hard commitment within the class and the first wide receiver to pledge his future to Penn State. This is Lyrick Samuel who is the newest member of the 2025 class for the Nittany Lions.

On what seemed to be a calm Monday evening the Penn State football world quickly turned around. As the newest member of the 2025 recruiting class, Lyrick Samuel made his commitment official. Samuel is currently ranked as the No. 2 prospect in New York in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports.

The three-star prospect’s pledge seemed to come out of nowhere, however, a crystal ball was placed by Brian Dohn of 247Sports for Samuel to commit to Penn State on Valentine’s Day last week.

Before Lyrick Samuel’s commitment, the Nittany Lions held the No. 6 recruiting in the country. They currently trail Notre Dame, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oklahoma nationally.

The Nittany Lions’ highest-rated commit currently is DJ McClary the four-star linebacker who is a top 150 prospect in the cycle. With the addition of Samuel the Nittany Lions have secured their 3rd 2025 commit in February. James Franklin and his coaching staff continue to impress on the recruiting trail.
