ICYMI: Top Penn State football target sets commitment date

One of the top Penn State football remaining targets in the 2024 recruiting class is soon to make a decision. Jaylen Harvey announced on social media Tuesday night when his commitment date will be. If you followed Penn State recruiting closely, this has been a difficult timeline to follow. Rumors of his decision have been all over the place, but regardless this is something to keep an eye on over the next few weeks.

Top Penn State football target sets commitment date

Jaylen Harvey is a four-star defensive end from Gaithersburg, Maryland, according to 247sports. He is a top 10 prospect in Maryland and currently holds two crystal balls. One is from Brian Dohn of 247sports, and the other is from Tyler Calvaruso from Lions247; both have a confidence level of 6 to land with the Penn State football team. On Wednesday, Scott Schrader of We Are SC (On3) logged a prediction for Harvey to commit to USC. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine still has the four-star as a heavy lean to the Nittany Lions, however.

Havey holds offers from USC, Maryland, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and several other Power 5 schools. His last unofficial visit was to Penn State ahead of the White Out game against Iowa.

It appears that the Nittany Lions are in solid position here, but that is the ever-lasting challenge with recruiting — you won’t know until the commitment date. Jaylen Harvey will make his decision on October 16th, so be sure to stay tuned to Basic Blues Nation for any additional updates.

Penn State’s 2024 recruiting class

Early national signing day is only a few months away. The 2024 recruiting class currently has 24 hard commits. The top prospect is ATH Quinton Martin, who will likely play running back at Penn State. Ethan Grunkemeyer is the quarterback of the future in the 2024 recruiting class. Nationally, Penn State football has the 12 overall class looking to boost into the top 10 with a few additions.
