The Penn State football team signed wide receiver Daniel George in the 2018 recruiting class. George is still the wide receiver responsible for the longest play from scrimmage in program history. A 95-yard touchdown pass from Sean Clifford to Daniel George in 2018 against Kent State. But George ended up leaving Penn State after the 2021 season as his playing time slowed down. He transferred to Akron, and now he has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. But he made sure to thank James Franklin in his NFL Draft statement.

Daniel George was a four-star wide receiver in the 2018 recruiting class for the Penn State football team. Unfortunately, his best year came in 2018 when he caught 2 passes for 112 yards and his only Penn State touchdown.

But it was after his move to transfer to Akron and play for Joe Moorhead that his career took off. In 2022 he caught 67 passes for 793 yards and 2 touchdowns. Then, this past season he accounted for 52 catches for 529 yards and 1 touchdown. Now, George has declared for the NFL Draft and thanked the Nittany Lions and their coaching staff.

About Penn State, George wrote, “Thank you, Coach Franklin, for instilling in me elite values and discipline.” The former Nittany Lion WR went on to thank Joe Moorhead for “believing in me as you launched your vision of excellence at Akron.”

2018 recruiting class was loaded for Penn State

When you look back at the 2018 recruiting class for Penn State, the same class that Daniel George was part of, it would shock you.

NFL talent from top to bottom, including Micah Parsons, Rasheed Walker, Odafe Oweh, Jesse Luketa, Juice Scruggs, Pat Freiermuth, Jahan Dotson, Will Levis, and PJ Mustipher. It’s crazy to see how many of these Nittany Lions are having success in the NFL.
