The writing was on the wall following the Peach Bowl loss to Ole Miss. Penn State football wide receiver Dante Cephas was seen as the first player in the tunnel after the game where he did not register a snap. After combining that and his inconsistent production during the 2023 season, Cephas decided to enter the transfer portal after one season in the blue and white. Over the weekend, Cephas decided to visit Kansas State in search of a new home.

Dante Cephas officially entered the transfer portal on January 3rd just days after the Nittany Lions’ Peach Bowl loss. He was widely regarded as one of the top transfer portal prospects ahead of the 2023 season. When he committed to the Penn State football team, many hoped he would become the team’s leading receiver. Unfortunately, that was not the case, Cephas struggled to stay on the field and consistently make an impact for the Nittany Lions. He finished the 2023 season with 22 catches for 246 yards and 2 touchdowns. According to Pete Nakos of On3 Cephas visited Kansas State on Saturday.

What’s the connection to Kansas State?

Many might think why would Cephas have an interest in Kansas State? It feels like a shot in the dark; however, when you peel back the lid there is a connection that makes sense. Dante Cephas became one of the top transfer portal prospects due to his success at Kent State. There his wide receiver coach was Matthew Middleton. Now, Middleton is the WR coach at Kansas State. If Cephas wants to recapture his magic on the field the Wildcats might give him the best chance to do so.
