The Penn State football team has seen great things from Beau Pribula this season. When he has played he has made great decisions and has moved the ball down the field. Players and coaches have alluded to the potential package for him to get more snaps early in a game. It sure felt like the Ohio State game was a great opportunity to roll something like that out on the field. Ultimately they decided to stick with Drew Allar the entire game and James Franklin commented on why that was.

Did Penn State consider going to Beau Pribula against Ohio State?

To say that Drew Allar struggled against Ohio State would be putting to lightly. The sophomore quarterback was not able to make the big plays when needed and ultimately, Penn State fell short. Now, the offensive gameplan and his wide receivers did not provide a ton of support; however, the Penn State football fans were hopeful for more. But did the Nittany Lions ever think about a swap at quarterback? James Franklin discussed this topic following the game.

Franklin said, “Yeah, I think at this stage, it was a one-possession game it felt like we were in. To make that type of change I don’t know if that’s the right thing to do for our locker room. I don’t know if that’s necessarily fair to Drew [Allar].”

I’m not sure if a complete change at quarterback would’ve made a massive difference. Ohio State was playing very well on defense and the game plan for Penn State on offense was simply not good. However, it would’ve added an interesting wrinkle even if it was on a few plays throughout the game. Regardless, Pribula should get more meaningful snaps to keep him engaged in the game plan.
