To summarize the situation at Michigan State unstable might be the best word to describe it. After Mel Tucker was recently fired, many of their current football commits must reconsider their future. That’s where the Penn State football team can make an additional recruiting effort, especially with the 2024 recruiting class adding its final prospects. The Nittany Lions are already ahead of schedule by hosting Justin Denson Jr. this weekend for the UMass game.

Michigan State commit set to visit Penn State football this weekend

Justin Denson Jr. made his commitment to the Michigan State football team on July 4th, 2023. But now, with the coach he committed to no longer with the program, is his door open once again? Denson Jr. is a three-star cornerback prospect in the 2024 recruiting class according to 247sports. A native of Kingston, PA, he holds offers from Alabama, Flordia, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Penn State, and several other Power 5 schools. If he does consider flipping his commitment he will have plenty of schools re-interested in him. He confirmed on Twitter/X that he will be on campus this weekend.

Denson Jr. could replace a missed prospect

On Sunday night the No. 1 rated JUCO prospect in the 2024 class Sione Laulea made his commitment to Oregon. While Penn State was in pursuit of Lauelea at the end of the day they were not able to land him. That’s where Justin Denson Jr. filling that position gap makes sense. If he can be at Penn State for all four years vs. the two that Laulea would have been, this would be a clear win around the board for James Franklin and his coaching staff. If Denson Jr. has a successful trip to campus this weekend, we could see a commitment flip on our hands in the 2024 recruiting class in the near future.
